Preferences — General

General settings are a part of the Preferences Window. The preferences window can be opened by selecting “Preferences” in the “ScreenFlow” menu, or pressing command-,.

Show ScreenFlow menu in menu bar

Shows the ScreenFlow menu in the status area of your menu bar (the far right of your menu bar).

default: on

Count-down before recording

Allows you to configure how many seconds to count down before recording begins. When this value is zero, the recording begins as quickly as possible.

default: 5

Launch ScreenFlowHelper at user login

When checked, the ScreenFlowHelper is launched when you login to your computer.

You can see if ScreenFlowHelper will be launched when you log in by looking at: System Preferences, Accounts, Login Items list.

default: off

Open last document at startup

When checked, the last document you used will be opened when ScreenFlow starts up. Otherwise, when you launch ScreenFlow, a new recording will begin.

default: off

Check for ScreenFlow updates at launch

When checked, ScreenFlow will look for updates of itself when it is launched. If one is found, you can download and install it.

default: off

Default Transition

Sets the default transition to use.

default: “Bars Swipe”

Recording Hotkey

Click on the hotkey entry area and then type the keys you wish to use as your hotkey.

As this hotkey is available even when other applications are running, you should chose a key combination that is not commonly used. For example, using command-1 would be a poor choice for a hotkey, as many other applications use this key combination.

default: shift-command-2

Pause Hotkey

Click on the hotkey entry area and then type the keys you wish to use as your hotkey. The pause hotkey is used to temporarily pause recordings.

default: none
